Architecture

The eIntegrationSuite is built on a modern tiered architecture to provide for high reuse and the flexibility of integrating multiple components into the integration framework. The application fits squarely into two emerging segments, Software as a Service (SaaS) and Integration as a service (IaaS. The graphic below depicts the high-level functional architecture.

 

 

Platform

The eMedicalFusion suite of products are built on the latest versions of Microsoft .NET, ASP.NET and C# running on MS Windows Server 2003 on SQLServer 2008 platform. All of the applications are 100% web based, meaning that any of the applications can be executed from a web browser with NO software to install. The software architecture leverages an industry standard best-practice three tiered approach which separates the business logic, data handling and user interface into 3 distinct layers of code. This approach provides for maximum reuse and maintainability. SOAP and REST-based web services are use for secure data exchange with external sources.

 

Data Exchange Formats

XML has become the "defacto" standard for exchanging data between applications and the eMedicalFusion suite of applicaitons heavily leverages xml for exchanging data between external applications. For data exchange with clinical systems hl7 is the dominant standard and we utilize this standard for exchanging patient demographic data between the clinical system and our SQL Server database. In addiiton, for applications that do not leverage either of these standards, we use text files (csv) to exchange data.

Data Transport

The eIntegrationSuite utilizes xml posts, web services and API's to exchange data with external applications. We can also use FTP as needed.

 

Security

We take security very seriously. Our applications were built form the ground up recognizing that security during transport and protection of data at rest would be critical. All access to the database is done through object programming avoiding direct database access from the web page. Further, all transactions are done over SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption to ensure security during transmission. Our fully integrated shopping cart is PCI compliant and we leverage industry leading Authorize.net to provide secure gateway processing and support for recurring billing with their secure Customer Information Manager (CIM capability).

 

Hosting

Our applications are hosted in a secure, state of the art data center. The data center provides us with a scable server architecture allowing us to add capacity as the demand increases, and offers nightly backups and a robust highly-redundant server architecture. The facility is approximately 200,000 facility and features fully conditioned power and generator backup. The data center provides robust physican security including card keyed doors, individually locked cabinets and detailed video surveillance of every server cabinet.

Following is the list of technology partners whose technology is integrated in the baseline configuration of eIntegrationHub. eMedicalFusion performed exhaustive research and these providers were chosen based on their ability to integrate in near real time, overall ease of use, product vision and cost. We are continuing to evaluate different components and will be adding to this list. In most cases, we are able to quickly integrate with any provider that has an XML or hl7 API.

	eMedicalFusion is an Authorized Reseller for 3dcart which is one of the leading providers of hosted shopping carts. As the shopping cart is hosted, the solution does not require any locally hosted software and configuring 3dcart is done with easy to use configuration screens -- no programming. Further 3dcart is fully PCI compliant, integrates with over 80 payment gateways, supports an unlimited number of products, provides support for multiple dropshippers and automatic recurring orders. 	CRM ASP, Inc. is a leading application service provider for web-based, hosted, customer relationship management (CRM) solutions. CRM, ASP features a robust API leveraging XML that supports the integration objectives of eMedicalFusion. CRM ASP, Inc. markets the CMR hosted solution under the brand FreeCRM. 	ClinixMD is one of the leading ASP-based providers of CCHIT certified Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software. The company has been offering ASP0-based solutions since 1985. ClinixMD was designed by physicians for physicians and has a 15 year history of improving patient care and driving highl levels of efficiency. Further, ClinixMD support hl7 integration for patient demographic data, the ability to recieve lab results electronically from Quest and Labcorp and a host of other features. 	Intuit's Quickbooks Premier 2010 was selected for financial management. This is the only desktop software product that was integrated with the eIntegrationSuite. Our research revealed that the desktop product when combined with the Quickboos Web Connector provided superior connectivity and functionality to the online versions of Quickbooks. The web connector is a free addition that provides for near real time, secure web service integration leveraging XML. Other versions of QB may work but would require additional testing. 	To get the full benefit of our eVendorPortal and 3dCart solution, you are required to use Authorize.net as your payment gateway. FreeAuth.net offers a low-cost approach to the #1 payment gateway on the internet and the signup process is easy, approvals are fast and the cost is lower than getting the gateway from Authorize.net.
